Want to be part of a Great Church?

Pastor Jen Wilson

What an Exciting Time to Be the Church!

Jesus didn’t give us a mission to keep us busy or make us comfortable. He gave us a calling to change the world. Willerup’s mission is to seek the lost, to strengthen the Lord’s disciples, and to serve in the Lord’s Kingdom. These aren’t optional side quests for the "super spiritual." They’re the core of what it means to follow Jesus. If we’re not pursuing these things, are we really living as His Church or are we comfortably fitting it into a space we determine is enough? What if Jesus is challenging us to shake off complacency and take a hard look at how we’re fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and living out the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40).

Seeking the lost isn’t just for pastors or missionaries; it’s for all of us. Jesus made it clear: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). If that was His priority, it needs to be ours too. Is it enough to invite people to church and hope they show up? Biblically, we’re called to go out, meet people where they are, and bring the hope of Jesus into their brokenness. Consider who you are intentionally pursuing with the love of Christ. If we’re not seeking the lost, we’re missing the mission.

Strengthening the Lord’s disciples means more than showing up on Sundays. It’s about investing in each other’s spiritual growth and holding one another accountable to live out our faith. Paul challenges us to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). That means discipleship isn’t a passive process—it’s hands-on, messy, and intentional. In what way are we building others up in the faith or are we just going through the motions? A Great Church doesn’t settle for surface-level faith; it digs deep. It goes the extra mile. A Great Church sees its Christian impact in the lives here and now, but also sees the future in the expressions of the next generation.

Serving in the Lord’s Kingdom requires action, not excuses. Jesus didn’t come to be served but to serve, giving His life for many (Mark 10:45). Following Him means doing the same.  A Great Church is going to challenge us to stop holding back and start giving our all—our time, gifts, talents, and energy—to advance His Kingdom. A Great Church that’s “all in” for Christ isn’t afraid to get its hands and feet dirty for the sake of the gospel. We don’t sit in on the sidelines. We live boldly as the Great Church Jesus called us to be. The mission is urgent. His grace is sufficient. Let’s get to work. It’s a great time to be the Great Church!

Hebrews 10:24-25 – “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
